Limited skilled labor in repairing, operating, and maintaining cold
chain systems causes numerous losses in the agricultural sector.
Through R-YES project, rural youth undergo experiential learning for
4 months in Air condition and Refrigeration workshop at the
Integrated Polytechnic Regional College (IPRC) Kigali and in factories
of agribusiness companies. Rural youth are skilled to be experts in
refrigeration and cod chain management.
Upon completion of the technical training in Refrigeration and Cold
chain management, youth can repair refrigeration system (cold
rooms, cooling tanks, fridges, etc.), install cold chain and refrigeration
system, perform preventive maintenance for cold chain and
refrigeration system, troubleshoot cold chain and refrigeration
system, and handle cold storage facility for storing food.
